Review: MastersFX Locks Packed 2016 Slate Of Television Projects

On The 100, MastersFX will provide prosthetic makeup for the mutant characters bearing radiation defects.

The third season of The 100 starts mid-season on The CW. MFX is also handling several full artificial bodies and makeup effects for Amazon’s The Man In The High Castle. The series, based on the novel by Phillip K. Dick and set in an alternate universe in which the Axis won World War II, premieres on Amazon Prime November 20.

Also inbound are effects projects on two SyFy series. First up is space opera series The Expanse, for which MFX is creating alien entities and other FX. The series, based on the series of novels of the same name, debuts December 14.

This will be followed by as yet unrevealed work on SyFy’s upcoming series adaptation of Lev Grossman’s The Magicians, essentially an adult oriented Harry Potter revolving around a sort of graduate school for magic, and the flawed people attending it. It’s set to air in early 2016.

MastersFX is also involved with Phoenix Rising, a pilot for a revival of the 1980s Canadian and American science fiction series Captain Power And The Soldiers Of The Future.

In addition to these upcoming projects, work by MastersFX will be seen this fall on Heroes Reborn, iZombie, The Flash, Arrow, and Grey’s Anatomy. They also contributed to R.L. Stine’s Monsterville: The Cabinet Of Souls, released on Blu-Ray September 29.
